The Must-Have PC Games of the Holiday Season

December 2, 2020

You may have noticed that 2020 has been a little…well, strange. It’s been a year of staying at home, avoiding large gatherings, not going out with friends or traveling to see family. While all of that has been hard, it has also been ideal for one type of person: the PC gamers of the world. You don’t have to come up with excuses about why you’re staying home on a Saturday night anymore, or leave for a whole weekend just for a family wedding. That means more time available for you to do the thing you love. As the year winds down, the holiday season promises to be an epic time for new game releases. Here are some of the must-haves for your holiday list.

Cyberpunk 2077

This game has been in the works for quite a while now, and as of November 19, it’s finally going to be available on PCs and several other gaming platforms. It brings a Grand Theft Auto feel to the screen as you explore Night City, California in the future as the main character Keanu Reeves.

Star Wars Squadrons

Is there anything better than a flight simulator game? Maybe, if it’s one that combines the epic tales of Star Wars with incredible flight controls and an immersive experience on your PC. The Squadrons game comes on the heels of some pretty amazing Star Wars games, including Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order and Star Wars Battlefront II. You sit behind the controls of your very own X-wing fighter jet as you battle it out in space with The Empire either on your own or a spart of a multiplayer format. The game was released in October and is available now.

Assassin’s Creed Valhalla

The next chapter in the Assassin’s Creed story takes you all the way back to the year 873 when the Vikings invaded Britain. It’s an immersive and realistic world with its own distinct look and the ability to wield multiple weapons as you fight your way through the British forces to take over the land. It hits store shelves and will be available for download on November 17.

Watch Dogs: Legion

The latest chapter in the Watch Dogs series takes you to a post-Brexit London where you can control any of the characters wandering the streets of the city. It’s a little lighter and more fun than some of the more intensive fighting games, which makes it ideal for a break from your Call of Duty Warzone battles.

Call of Duty: Black Ops – Cold War

The annual release of Call of Duty is back, even amidst unprecedented changes in the gaming world during the COVID-19 pandemic. This time you are part of the CIA’s Soviet spy operations in the early 1980s under the Ronald Reagan administration. The extensive map customization and new dynamics should make the 17th installment in the COD series and the sixth of the Black Ops franchise. It was released November 13.
